About Us

My name is Dominic Marro and I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) who has been committed to a Whole Food Plant Based Diet since March, 2009. I was employed in a job I loved from 1995 to 2009. Unfortunately, I did not keep up with nutrition research during those years.

During my five months of unemployment, (from February ’09 to July ’09) I read the China Study, followed by books and articles written by the following advocates of Whole Food Plant Based Diets (WFPB):

Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. John McDougall and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. and Dr. Neal Barnard

On March 15, 2009, I transitioned to a WFPB diet. I haven’t had a nanogram of animal protein since that date.

I soon felt an increase in my energy and watched body fat disappear as I ate to my heart’s content. I found that as long as I ate an abundant amount of fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains, I could eat until I was full. My weight went from 178 lbs to 165 lbs in approximately 5 months. It’s been pretty stable for over seven years.  My Total Cholesterol was recently measured at 116 mg/dl (non fasting). (July 2016)

These past seven plus years have been a remarkable ride.

The evidence is very clear to me that a Whole Food Plant Based (WFPB) diet gives us the best chance to avoid the many chronic diseases that plague Americans.

Since 2009, I’ve had four different positions, and I’ve discovered that many RDs are clueless about the mountainous amount of research showing the disease promoting effects of consuming animal protein above our daily requirements. I’m also bothered by the many RDs who still promote certain oils as being healthy. I’m grateful to Jeff Novick RD and Dr. Michael Klaper for setting me straight in this regard, particularly about olive oil.  That’s right folks.  It’s not a health food!  I haven’t added any oil to my food in over four years.

The WFPB movement has reignited my passion for Nutrition.  At 55 years old, I feel great physically and my belief in the power of food in promoting health has never been stronger.

In April, 2012, I completed the certificate program in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell and the T. Colin Campbell Foundation.

In recent years, I’ve shared my knowledge and passion with others who began their own WFPB journey.
I am passionate about preventive health care. Following a WFPB diet is the best way for people to decrease their risk of developing chronic  diseases  that cause misery and premature death.

I thoroughly enjoy showing people that achieving long term health and vitality is possible and is under their control.

I imagine that you visited this site because you are concerned about your health or the health of a loved one. You need to know that a WFPB lifestyle that includes a reasonable amount of exercise can help you look and feel as great as you deserve.

Clinical Nurse Supervisor for Dr. Raazali Mamdani

Certified in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell and the T.Colin Campbell Foundation

Hi…my name is Debbie and I am passionate about diet and our health. I truly believe what we feed our bodies has everything to do with our health. I have learned so much about nutrition, (some facts are absolutely astonishing), that I feel compelled to tell others what I have learned.

I have worked in a medical practice for 30 years and have witnessed patients of all ages suffering from cancers, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, etc., and wondered why, in this day and age, would our health be worse than it has 30, 40, 50 years ago….why?? Why are more and more people being diagnosed with cancer now more than ever in our history, and, age has no bearing on diseases we see in our practice.

Why is heart disease the #1 killer in the US when we are supposed to have the best health care in the world??  Why are we sicker now than ever before??  I felt compelled to try and find answers to the root of these problems. It only makes sense to me that something has to ”go wrong” in our bodies to set disease in motion.  What I found was if we give our bodies what it needs, we can have optimal health!  This is what is so exciting to me, each of us has the power within us to prevent all kinds of disease and illness.

The information and research that I will share with you is from the Cleveland Clinic, Harvard, Yale, Oxford, etc.  My favorite people to quote are Dean Ornish, MD, Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr, MD, Joel Fuhrman, MD, T. Colin Campbell, PhD, and John McDougall, MD.  All of these people are well-known in the whole-foods world.  People that incorporate their knowledge of what to eat, how to eat, etc., not only transform their health, but literally transform their lives!

Welcome to The Plantastic Life classes and thank you for allowing me to help you achieve the long lasting health and happiness you deserve.
