Drowning In Plastic

Drowning in Plastic

I follow a whole-food plant based (WFPB) diet because I believe the preponderance of the experimental, observational and clinical evidence strongly suggests that by following such a diet, I give myself the best chance to avoid common chronic diseases.  I look at any benefits WFPB diets provide to animals and to the environment as bonuses.

My Plastic Footprint

I’ve known for some time that when I began following a WFPB diet nine years ago, I significantly reduced my water footprint and carbon footprint.  But I recently watched a film that taught me that by eating more fresh fruits, veggies and intact grains bought in bulk, I’ve significantly reduced my plastic footprint.

The film “Drowning in Plastic” has made me aware that not only is plastic damaging to wildlife, but its breakdown in the environment is very likely to be damaging to human health.  The film is 90 minutes long, but I bet that most people who watch the first 10 minutes will be compelled to think of additional ways to reduce their plastic footprint.

I know I have.
